Connect with All of Your Customer Groups on Your Home Page

Take a moment to consider all of the key groups of customers that contribute to your revenue. And then, look at your website's home page and make sure you are communicating with each of these customer groups.

Here are a few examples of customer groups:

  • Retail and Wholesale
  • Local and National
  • English Speaking/Spanish Speaking
  • Product-focused and Service-focused
  • Turnkey and Custom


You want to have some specific facet of your home page geared toward each of your customer groups. For example, if you have a local audience, you can greet local customers with an image of your storefront or some special offer for walk-in customers. For a national audience, you might want to advertise a shipping discount or call attention to the locations you ship to. You could welcome wholesale customers with a link to a wholesale account form, and if you accept orders from both wholesale and retail customers, you could specify this in your text.

By targeting specific customer groups on your homepage, you immediately engage them and encourage them to further explore your site and see what you have to offer.
