Sometimes you just know you want to be in business for yourself, even if you're not sure exactly what it is you want to do. That's how Paul Sidelinger felt when he was looking for a business opportunity, before he settled on RazorSharpKnives.com. He started his business "just like any other business gets started," he says, " just by looking to what you like to do, looking to your passions." Paul says he has always had an interest in knives, their use, and their history, and thought that selling quality knives would be a good field for him.
In the Navy, Paul worked as an Aviation Electronics Technician. After his honorable discharge a few years ago, Paul found himself working some jobs that he wasn't happy with and that weren't going anywhere. He began looking for the right opportunity to start his own business. "I did some research online to see if knives would be a viable business idea," he says, "and it looked to be that knives were in pretty high demand. So I thought why not go for it."
RazorSharpKnives.com was started in 2006, and since then the business has been successfully selling brand name, high quality pocketknives, hunting knives, and knives of all sorts for the collector and enthusiast.
Paul found MightyMerchant through a business coaching program that recommended us as a good ecommerce solution. "I thought, hey, that's as good a recommendation as any so I'll see what they're all about," he remembers.
He knew of other shopping carts and ecommerce solutions, but once he realized how easy and convenient working on his site would be with MightyMerchant's ecommerce platform, there was no need to look anywhere else. "I've heard of other solutions," he says, though he was happy with what he saw in MightyMerchant. "I just went with a good professional recommendation. It's user friendly, you don't always have to dig in to the gut of your website to make changes. It is handy. I have no complaints."
A key feature that MightyMerchant implemented on Paul's site is an automated inventory upload from his distributor, an immediate transfer of orders back to his distributor for order fulfillment. MightyMerchant wrote custom code to integrate his web site orders and inventory with his distributor so it all happens like clockwork.
"I also wanted a site that loads quickly and looks professional," says Paul. "A lot of sites out there look like c#!p to be honest with you. They're just a mess and that's one thing I stressed was that I wanted it to look clean and professional, like it's a real business. We accomplished that goal."
Thanks for choosing MightyMerchant, Paul!
