That Style Works: Jackie Nelson

While working in a corporate office Jackie Nelson dreamed of breaking free and working for herself. She made it happen, with clothing company That Style Works.
Jackie Nelson built a successful career for herself, working her way up to a Vice President of Sales & Marketing position in a several publicly held companies. Throughout this, she developed valuable sales, marketing and management skills which have served her well in creating and growing her web site business, even though the website business was not her immediate goal when she started out.
“The decision to start a web site business is the result of wanting to change the way I spent my day,” she says. Tired of wearing power suits, she originally dreamed of her Wisconsin-based business That Style Works as “a traveling fashion accessory business selling at home parties.”
The first step was creating a business plan. Putting her ideas on paper helped to see how her limited resources would be allocated. Jackie originally wanted a “brochure” website for That Style Works, and she spent a lot of time searching for a web designer artist, looking at “many, many” web sites on the internet to find site designs she likes, she explains. “I found a site I liked very much and contacted the web designer,” says Jackie. Jackie and this designer, Kitty Meade from ink2art, developed a good working relationship and Kitty created Jackie’s dream website.
Eventually, Jackie’s home party business turned into an ecommerce website. “Toting products during Wisconsin’s winter season took its toll,” says Jackie, “and ladies asked if they could buy something online since they could not always attend evening sales. One thing led to another and Kitty referred me to MightyMerchant for the shopping cart element.” Just as Jackie spent lots of time scouring the Internet for web designers she admires, she did her homework on MightyMerchant, too. “I also contacted several MightyMerchant clients shown on the Gallery page. Every single contact produced a Rave Review.”
With her confidence in MightyMerchant complete, Jackie embarked on working with our web designer, Kathy, to design an ecommerce site for ThatStyleWorks.com. “I started out with a basic no frills site – poor Kathy! I was such a green horn,” Jackie says. “As I worked with the site and learned a little more about selling online, I added more and more features. The staff at MightyMerchant is responsive and makes every effort to solve problems or obstacles I present.”
Jackie recognizes that updating the site, adding new products, and keeping the site fresh is essential in attracting repeat customer sales. “Between MightyMerchant and Kitty at ink2art I have a great team of professionals to help me,”
Thanks Jackie!
