Steve Dix was founder of Pacific Stonescape’s Eugene store and was General Manager prior to purchasing the business from its former owner in 2005. While Pacific Stonescape did have an existing website, Steve recognized that it was poorly organized. He needed a site that would show off his many varieties of rocks and stones to their best advantage, and inspire his customers with plenty of photos of projects.
Steve and his wife, Vice President Rosalind Pine, found MightyMerchant after doing an online search for website service providers in the Eugene, Oregon area. They found several possibilities, but chose MightyMerchant after talking to the other companies. Steve found that many of the other website hosting companies they spoke with seemed to have their own ideas about what Pacific Stonescape’s website should look like, and didn’t listen to Steve’s ideas. “We liked what MightyMerchant did for their other customers,” said Steve, “and we interviewed them. We found them to really listen to what we wanted as opposed to others who responded to our ideas with ‘Oh, you don't want that!’"
After interviewing with Jeanie and determining that what they wanted was not only possible but would look great too, they made the switch to MightyMerchant. Their new site makes it easy to browse their various products, from stone and pebbles, boulders, and stone columns, to stone garden furniture and aggregate decorative rock. After a few coaching sessions and some telephone conferencing, Steve says the Site Manager is easy for him to use. “It is easy to update and change as our product line evolves,” which it frequently does, Steve says.
As you might imagine, it is logistically impossible to ship their products very far. They have a thriving wholesale business, but you can walk in and buy as little as a few handfuls of aquarium pebbles to as much rock as it would take to build your dream home. Since switching to MightyMerchant, their traffic has greatly improved. “The number of hits we have had from our target customer base (design professionals) is really starting to increase after going live as recently as March 07,” says Steve.
Thanks Steve and Rosalind, and keep Rockin'!
